What custom kitchen cabinets really cost in Los Angeles.
How online cabinet pricing works, what it leaves out, and what goes into a complete quote for a custom kitchen.
Start with what the online price covers.
National online retailers publish a price for every cabinet box, often shown as a list price with a large standing discount. That price covers a box and a door in a fixed size. It does not cover measuring, the parts that make a kitchen look finished, the countertop, or the people who install it.
To show how this works, we priced one common cabinet, a 24 inch European frameless base cabinet with one door and one drawer, on a major online retailer's site on September 29, 2026.
| One 24 inch base cabinet | Online retailer |
|---|---|
| List price | $725.97 |
| After a 38.25% promotion | $448.29 |
| Finished side option | +20% of list, $145.19 |
| Plywood box option | +50% of list, $362.99 |
| Depth change | +35% of list |
| Measuring, countertop, install | Not included |
Narrow cabinets cost far more per foot.
Catalog pricing is set per box, and a wider box costs only a little more. On the same retailer's frameless line, a 12 inch base cabinet costs about 2.4 times as much per linear foot as a 36 inch base.
Real kitchens have fillers, narrow pull-outs and odd walls, which is where catalog pricing climbs and where cabinets built to the opening save both money and space.
| Base cabinet width | List price | Per linear foot |
|---|---|---|
| 12 in | $675.58 | $676 |
| 18 in | $700.79 | $467 |
| 24 in | $725.97 | $363 |
| 30 in | $811.09 | $324 |
| 36 in | $836.98 | $279 |

What goes into a complete kitchen quote.
A custom kitchen price is built from the approved design. These are the parts that move it most:
- Cabinet count and sizes. The number of boxes, and how many are narrow, tall or specialty units.
- Box material. Particleboard, MDF or plywood, and whether sides and interiors are finished.
- Door and panel finish. Matte, high-gloss, veneer and textured finishes vary widely in cost.
- Hardware and inserts. Drawer systems, pull-outs, lift-up doors and lighting.
- Stone. Material, slab count, edge details, seams and cutouts.
- Installation and access. Hillside sites, high-rise elevators and HOA rules affect delivery and install.
We quote the whole job from a measured design: cabinetry, panels, stone and installation, itemized in one document. No box price followed by a list of add-ons.
Get a measured quoteOnline assembled vs. built to fit
| Online assembled cabinets | V10 | |
|---|---|---|
| Measuring | You measure and take the risk if a size is off | Our team measures the room and checks it again before building |
| Sizes | Fixed widths in 3 inch steps, gaps closed with fillers | Built to the opening, including odd widths, depths and ceiling heights |
| Finished ends and panels | Extra line items, often 15% to 50% of the cabinet price | Specified in the design so the quote is the whole job |
| Countertops | A separate company, separate templating, separate schedule | Porcelain, quartzite, quartz and granite cut in the same workshop |
| Installation | Not included. You hire and manage an installer | Installed by the people who built it |
| Delivery | Freight to the curb, typically weeks after ordering | Scheduled delivery and install by our own crew |
Cabinet pricing questions.
What is a 10x10 kitchen price?
A 10x10 kitchen is a standard sample layout that cabinet sellers use to compare door styles. It is useful for comparing brands but it is not a quote for your room, and it usually excludes finished panels, fillers, countertops, delivery and installation.
Why do online cabinet prices look so much lower?
Online prices usually cover the cabinet box and door only. Measuring, finished ends, box upgrades, countertops, delivery to the room and installation are extra or left to you.
How do I get an accurate price for a custom kitchen?
Start with a measured design. Once the layout, finishes and stone are chosen, the price can include every part of the job.
Measure once. Build it to fit. Install it ourselves.
Tell us about the room. A designer will call to set up a measure and consultation at your home or at the workshop.
